AcalaQuell ceramic pre-filter for AcalaQuell Mini and AcalaQuell Midi
A world first for clean drinking water. This is how the new water treatment plant was advertised in Lucerne.
The world’s first water purification system is a ceramic filter!!!!
For Acala, this is not new, but tried and tested. For over 20 years, our customers have been successfully purifying their water with the excellent ceramic pre-filter, among other things.
Good to know:
The AcalaQuell® ceramic filter is a highly developed pre-filter that reliably removes coarse impurities from your water. With an impressive pore size of just 0.2 to 0.45 micrometers, this filter offers excellent protection against unwanted substances. For comparison: the pores of the AcalaQuell ceramic filter are around 300 times smaller than a human hair.
Effective protection against contamination
Thanks to its fine structure, the ceramic filter provides extremely effective protection against bacteria and other harmful particles. Sediment, rust, sand and suspended particles cannot penetrate the tiny pores of the filter and are deposited on the outside of the ceramic filter. This ensures thorough and careful cleaning of your drinking water.
Proven technology
The ceramic pre-filter is the first part of Acala’s own fantastic ReNaWa technology. The AcalaQuell® ceramic filter is already used and appreciated by millions of people worldwide.
Visible results
The efficiency and thorough cleaning of your water will show on your ceramic filter over time. You may notice brown, yellow or red deposits, which can vary depending on the condition of your water pipes. These deposits are undesirable substances that we want to avoid in our drinking water.
Conclusion

What is ceramic actually?
Ceramic surrounds us in many different forms in everyday life. Whether crockery, food storage containers or floor coverings – it is impossible to imagine our lives without this versatile material. Decorative elements such as ceramic vases and bowls also enrich our living spaces and have been part of our culture for thousands of years. The oldest known ceramics come from the Jomon culture, which dates back as far as 13,000 years BC.
The term “ceramic” is derived from the ancient Greek word “keramos”, which means “baked clay” or “baked earth”. In ancient Rome, ceramics were referred to as “terra cotta”, which also means “burnt earth”. By sintering raw materials at high temperatures, new materials are created with a wide range of applications that go beyond sinks and tiles. Ceramics are considered to be one of the purest materials we know.
Essentially, ceramics consist of silicates, i.e. minerals characterized by SiO2 tetrahedra. This chemical composition may seem complex, but it is widespread in nature. In fact, over 90% of our earth is made up of silicate rocks. Put simply, we can say that a washbasin or other ceramic products are basically made of stones and minerals.
Thanks to the properties of ceramics, we can find a wide range of applications, from everyday objects to high-precision components such as the AcalaQuell® pre-filter or even dental crowns. Ceramics are therefore an indispensable part of our lives, offering both functional and aesthetic benefits.
